Bill Mechnick, PLA / President
Bill Mechnick, President and Principal in Charge, has over 20 years of experience with landscape architecture, land planning and public participation. He has lead the design of a diverse range of projects including parks and recreation, downtown revitalization, mixed use communities and institutional projects. He is experienced with providing landscape architecture services in the northeast, mid Atlantic and southeast.
When Bill joined LPDA in 1997, his intent was to lead the expansion of the firms portfolio of work. Since then, the firm’s portfolio and expertise has diversified to include significant park, urban design, community planning and development projects.
Bill focuses on a process that integrates the desires of our clients with responsiveness to site and environmental conditions. Bill also focuses staff talents in order to maximize effectiveness. Bill is responsible for overseeing design direction, client management and business operations for LPDA’s two offices. His primary focus is insuring LPDA’s clients receive the best possible service and product possible. Bill also provides project management, design and production to ensure continued principal involvement in the firms work. Bill’s eye for design, graphic, practicality and his awareness of client needs have lead to many successful design solutions.
Education / Registration / Professional Organizations
Bill received his Bachelor of Science from West Virginia University and received the ASLA honor award for excellence in the study of landscape architecture. He is a registered Landscape Architect in the states of Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina and Florida and is a member of the Virginia Recreation and Parks Society and the American Society of Landscape Architects.
