The Verde at Howard Square is a LEED Gold 4-story apartment complex surrounding a 5-story parking garage. The design of the building creates four private courtyards for the residents to enjoy. One of the courtyards is multi-level in order to solve the following issues: Architectural FFE constraints, utility conflicts and ADA accessibility. This courtyard anchors the main public entrance to the complex with a swimming pool and outdoor fireplace sitting area. Another has a boardwalk /deck as a focal point creating a natural feel in an urban setting. The deck is effective in allowing access to an ESD drain for maintenance and making a pleasant space for the residence.

The project won a US Green Building Council – Maryland Chapter Award for New Construction.
