The City of Covington and the Town of Clifton Forge are two communities in transition from industry based economies to one that is more sustainably structured. The Alleghany Highlands Economic Development Corporation (AHEDC) obtained the services of LPDA to provide a visioning and strategic plan that would define clear economic based objectives for each community.
LPDA led a multidisciplinary team to develop strategies for revitalization and re alignment with community assets. Key strategies included redevelopment efforts, zoning changes, wayfinding improvements, marketing strategies, business recruitment and improvements to public infrastructure and amenities.
The team prepared financial feasibility studies for four catalyst projects, each involving the renovation and adaptive reuse of key buildings. The resulting planning documents created a combined vision for future economic development and community improvements.
