On March 14th, 2017 LPDA was the recipient of the ‘2016 Alexandria Park and Recreation Commission CIVIC Award’. In 2016 LPDA’s Amie Evans worked with the Del Ray Citizens Association (DCRA) and our architectural partner, Cole + Denny Architects to develop concept plans for a proposed urban park at the intersection of Commonwealth and Mount Vernon Avenues in Alexandria. The concept was to turn the antiquated park space into a vibrant urban space at the gateway to the central business district of Del Ray. The program is the incorporation of the Nancy Dunning Memorial Garden, an interactive fountain and plaza space and site improvements to the Del Ray Artisans building.
Congratulations to Amie and Cole + Denny Architects on your achievement working with the project and DRCA.
The Potomac Yard Trail along the east side of Potomac Ave in Potomac Yard creates a critical linkage for cyclist. It is a ride virtually un-interrupted by vehicles along one of the City’s newest parks, from some of the regions newest, hottest mixed use projects to the Braddock Road Metro Station.
What’s not to love? Apparently the Washington Area Bicyclist Association loves it too. On February 25th WABA honored the City of Alexandria with Best Improvement for Biking in 2015 in Virginia.
LPDA is proud to be a part of Potomac Yard and to work with the City and Potomac Yard Development. We hope that the extensive landscapes along this route only make this trail make it better with time.
After over a year of completion and establishment of plantings, the downtown streetscape is beginning to show maturity.
Warren County has another blueway access point completed to the Shenandoah River. LPDA provided design, permitting and construction administration services.
