CPSI Certification Adds Value

LPDA is pleased to announce the CPSI certification of Project Manager, Amie Evans, PLA. CPSI (Certified Playground Safety Inspector) certification gives LPDA and our clients and additional level of expertise and diligence when designing and constructing outdoor play environments.

Amie has been working on several important playground and playground renovation projects including projects at Howard Hughes Medical Institute (HHMI) in Ashburn, VA and Potomac Yard Park in the City of Alexandria, VA. Through her close work with clients and jurisdictions, she learned their concerns regarding public safety, maintenance and long term performance of the playgrounds. This inspired her to enhance her skill set further with CPSI certification. Seeing her own child interact with the outdoor environment has further focused her attention on these issues.

LPDA programs and designs park and play environments, which include manufactured equipment as well as custom features and interactive landscapes. Our work includes all site elements such as parking, ADA access, site grading and drainage, park amenities, special play features, interactive water features, nature play elements and the siting of play equipment.

Notable Projects Include:

  • Potomac Yard Park, Alexandria, Virginia
  • HHMI Janelia Campus, Playground Renovation, Ashburn, Virginia
  • O. Riley Park, Woodstock, Virginia
  • A Dream Come True Playground, Harrisonburg, Virginia
  • ARC Park, Richmond, Virginia
  • Riverside Park – Play Core, Lynchburg, Virginia

Our process has always involved the integration of third party CPSI review of our design plans and built work. However, having certified staff gives us in house capabilities to address questions and design challenges on a day to day basis.

Many of our projects are universally accessible and inclusive. Besides being accessible and having accessible equipment, there are multiple experiences, features and areas for youth and adults with physical, cognitive and developmental impairments. Learn more at the 2014 VRPS conference, where Company President, Bill Mechnick and physical and occupational therapists will be providing an educational session on Integration of cognitive and physical therapeutics into park and play environments.
